District wins three safety awards at Sandusky Area Safety Council banquet

Buildings, Grounds and Maintenance Supervisor Greg Linkenbach accepted three safety awards on behalf of Perkins Local School District at the 67th Annual Safety Awards Banquet of the Sandusky Area Safety Council (SASC).

The Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation Division of Safety & Hygiene sponsors the awards and presented the district with the following:

  • Group award - Presented to the SASC member, Business or Organization with the lowest incident rate in each group.

  • 100% Award - Presented to each SASC Member, Business, and Organization that worked the entire year without a lost time injury or illness.

  • Special Awards - Presented to SASC Members that accumulated at least 500,000 hours and 6 months without a lost time injury; Perkins Schools’ efforts in preventing accidents and injuries in the workplace from 12/9/2013 to 12/31/2017 resulted in a total of 687,057 hours worked.

“These awards represent the tremendous efforts of the entire district to maintain a safe work environment,” Linkenbach said. “By diligently completing training to stay informed of regulations and recommendations, and conscientiously following established procedures and protocols, our employees work hard daily to prevent incidents from occurring.  We are proud of the continuous efforts we’ve made as a district in the area of safety, and appreciate the recognition of our accomplishments.”

In his position as supervisor, Mr. Linkenbach represents the district at 10 meetings per year to receive training and fulfill membership requirements as part of the Sandusky Area Safety Council. Topics discussed cover a broad range of workplace issues, including BWC fraud, wellness, OSHA information, fire code updates, food safety, and protecting employees from heat stress.

The district most recently received all three awards in the same year in 2013.
