supupdate

Dear Perkins Community,

It with both a sense of sadness and happiness that I bid you farewell as I begin to transition to the Bay Village City Schools this August and become a primary support for my parents.

I’m sure you are aware of how hard all of us have worked to meet our goals.  First and foremost, the passage of two levies ensures fiscal security for at least five to seven years and is an accomplishment we all share.  The entire community came together to build a collective commitment around our Perkins Promise Plan. I could not have succeeded so readily without the support and guidance of my co-workers in the Administrative Service Center, the administrative team, levy committee leaders and many staff and community volunteers.

I would especially like to thank the Board of Education, Dr. Brad Mitchel, Mr. Jason Dulaney, Mrs. Niki Hykes, Mr. Ted Kastor, Mr. Scott Hart and previous members, Mr. Matt Kosior, Mr. Terry Chapman, Mr. Michael Ahner and Mr. Andy Carroll for giving me the opportunity to serve the Perkins community.

I would also like to thank each of you who took the time to share advice, good news, and kindness during my tenure.  I am grateful for many who joined our teaching and learning journey that led to exponential student growth.  We increased opportunities at the high school, reinstituted our gifted program, reduced athletic fees, and launched a design lab.  This work occurred because many people are dedicated to designing new academic and extracurricular programs.

Of course, the most important part of my day was spending time with my student advisory council or attending the hundreds of academic programs, sporting events and extracurricular activities.  Our Perkins Pirates are talented children who continue to demonstrate that they are empowered to pursue their dreams and achieve success.

As I move onto a new and exciting phase in my life, my memories of Perkins Schools will be positive because I always try to put students first, listen to parents about their concerns and recognize the impact our staff has on our students.

Please continue your passionate PERKINS PRIDE, and I look forward to finishing strong right up to my last day on July 31, 2018—feel free to contact me if I can further assist you.
